Removing the Stress From Moving Home or Office

It’s widely known that moving houses or offices can be a fairly stressful experience. Reading this now, you can probably think of a time or two when you didn’t have enough boxes, void fill or tape, or your fragile items didn’t make it to their final destination in one piece, or even the time it took you hours to locate that all-important document or item after tearing through all of your unlabeled cartons! As Signet is a one stop shop for all things packaging, we wanted to make life easier by sharing some of our top tips:

1. Stock up
Moving to us means one thing: supplies! Make sure you have enough boxes, tape, bubble wrap, void-fill, labels, markers and packing knives in time to start packing.

2. Prioritise
There’s nothing worse than getting a head-start on packing only to realise that you’ve just packed several items that you need to use before you move. Start packing less important items first and leave your most-used items until last to reduce pre-moving frustration!

3. Void fill and labels are your friend
Bubble wrap and other void fills are handy for a number of reasons – they fill the empty spaces in your boxes, can be wrapped around goods to protect the item or block a particular item from damaging other items during the moving process.
Labels are also endlessly handy as in one quick glance you know the contents of each of the boxes or bags you’ve packed without having to unpack and tear through the box in a frenzied state.

4. Research
Before renting a moving truck or hiring removalists ensure you do your research to make sure you’re using a reputable company at the best price. You want to make sure that your goods will arrive safe and sound after your packing efforts!

5. Recycle & Consolidate
After you’ve moved home or office, save yourself some money by keeping the moving supplies (rolls of tape, bubble wrap, labels, markers etc.)  and recycling/storing the boxes when you’ve finished unpacking. Moving is also a great excuse to clear out items that you no longer need/use and general rubbish that you’ve kept in storage.

There’s a lot more to moving, but by following these tips you’ll be well on your way to re-move-ing the stress from your move (pun intended!). Before we leave you to the task of packing we’ll reveal one more tip – save yourself a little more money by buying a house or office moving pack. Signet have created bundles to help move 1 bedroom, 1-2 bedrooms, 3-4 bedrooms, and 5-6 bedroom houses and have 2 different office moving bundles available. In each of these you’ll find the necessary goodies to move with greater ease and efficiency.
